The storage of low-cohesion materials (sand, gravel, clay) and the removal of overburden pose significant risks of landslides, slope failures, and burial. Unstable slopes, overburden at the edge of excavations, and the action of water require safe slopes; undercutting is prohibited, and adherence to safety distances is imperative to prevent serious accidents.
This training presents Rio Tinto’s D3 standard, which sets out performance standards for managing geotechnical hazards associated with the slopes of temporary stockpiles and natural embankments.

Training offered online in self-study mode. You can follow the lessons and exercises at any time, 24/7, for the duration of your access. A tutor is available by email. A summative evaluation is planned at the end of your training in order to validate your acquired knowledge.
